Vatican Newspaper: Obama's OK

In a stark contrast to the hyperbolic language and extreme measures coming from conservative activists at the heart of the anti-Obama-Notre-Dame-speech-movement, the Vatican's official newspaper has declared Obama to be, essentially, moderate.

The L'Osservatore Romano article, "The 100 days that did not shake the world," reports that President Obama has not yet enacted the "radical" policies so feared by many conservative Catholics.

For example, while re-stating Vatican opposition to embryonic stem cell research, L'Osservatore Romano acknowledged the carefully crafted ethical guidelines (which also drew praise from several pro-life religious leaders).

This more nuanced view from the Vatican is welcome addition to the public debate on these issues. Will American pro-lifers follow its lead?
